At CAS, students have the opportunity to take courses in NYC area colleges through the CAS College Studies Program. Participation in this program allows for students to demonstrate interest and ability to work at the college level. Those students interested in participating in this program should contact the College Studies Program Coordinator before the start of cycle three.
We encourage students to consider taking the SAT or ACT more than once so that he/she can improve a score when needed. Free preparatory classes for these exams are available through the Department of Education starting in October and March. You can find out more information about these classes by going to the Department of Education’s website at www.nycenet.edu and clicking on the link for Students.
Making college visits and scheduling interviews are also core issues students should be thinking about when deciding on a school of interest. CAS offers two college fairs each year where colleges are invited to visit and represent their offerings to students and parents.
We also offer a class titled College and Careers which allows for students to address their concerns in a group setting. This class is typically available to students who are in their senior year
Students need to be aware that CUNY school personnel know our school. They are familiar with our transcripts. City-As-School transcripts are unranked and ungraded. Transfer school grades are listed. To get a full picture of student achievement, a guide is sent along with the transcript, which helps a college evaluate the transcript. If there are further questions, a school will contact us.
Two year schools do not usually require the SAT or ACT, although they may be helpful.
It is important to keep up our level of commitment after applications and acceptances are in. Some schools will require end term grades.
